U of I Team Sweeps Washington Cybersecurity Competition

February 21, 2023

University of Idaho College of Engineering students took first place in the Spokane Mayors Cup Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Competition. The U of I team competed against 18 teams from around the region.

Computer engineering senior Chadwick Goodall and computer science seniors Jon Kopf, Kyle LeDoux and Robert Walko completed 40 challenges in the Swallow Division involving many different aspects of cybersecurity, including secure communication techniques and accessing personal information.

“We all knew each other’s strengths,” said LeDoux, of Boise. “From classes at U of I, you get a lot more practical application compared to other universities. We already had a lot of knowledge built up about how to go about each challenge. Having this win on our resume will be very valuable.”
