U of I Boise College of Art and Architecture Grad Student Earns Exclusive ‘T’ Space Architecture Residency

April 24, 2024

MOSCOW, Idaho — Mason Miles, a fifth-year University of Idaho Boise architecture master’s student, has been admitted to the 2024 ‘T’ Space Architecture Residency. The residency program is extremely competitive, with only five residents — including students and young professionals in architecture, design and visual arts — selected worldwide.

The program, founded by internationally acclaimed architect Steven Holl, will take place this summer July 5-26 and will consist of a virtual 25-day intensive architecture studio.

“This prestigious program provides an intensive studio environment, challenging participants to think and design critically,” said Dwaine Carver, U of I Boise associate professor of architecture. “It includes design critiques, lectures and conversations with invited artists, writers and architects from around the world.”

Additionally, a $1,000 travel stipend will be offered to each of the participants to visit the grounds of the ‘T’ Space art gallery in Rhinebeck, New York, from July 29 to Aug. 2. Participants will travel to destinations of acclaimed architectural and artistic interest across the Hudson Valley.

“I'm eagerly looking forward to the upcoming summer residency,” Miles said. “I'm excited about the opportunity to absorb valuable wisdom and design knowledge from Mr. Holl, his colleagues and fellow residents and to share with my peers this upcoming fall semester.”

This is the second time a U of I architecture student has been admitted to the residency program. Reggie Mace ’23, a U of I Boise architecture master’s student, was admitted to the program in 2021.
