Applications

Proposal applications for the 2017-18 academic year are due the first Friday of April, 2017.

Applications

Eligible graduate students must complete and submit an application packet no later than close of business the first Friday of April in PDF format by email to skoerber@uidaho.edu. If you have any questions about the application process or forms, please contact the Office of Research and Economic Development at skoerber@uidaho.edu.

To be eligible, a graduate student must be accepted or currently enrolled, have a study plan on file with the College of Graduate Studies, and be in good standing in a graduate program at the University of Idaho with an interest in forest ecology (e.g., forest pathology, tree physiology, forest stand structure, forest genetics, forest landscape change, forest nutrition, biodiversity of forests, or forest soils).

Progress Reports

The fellowship is awarded for one year, but can be renewed for a second and third year, based upon satisfactory progress. Progress on the proposed research is required to be documented in a progress report. After the first six months of a new project, the student is responsible for writing a one-page summary of work to date. Full progress reports (3 - 5 pages) will be due annually thereafter. All progress reports are due by February 1, are to be signed by the student and major professor, and must be submitted in PDF format to the Office of Research and Economic Development at skoerber@uidaho.edu.

Final Report

A final report of activity must be submitted within one month of the completion of the project for review and acceptance by the Stillinger Administrative Committee. The final report is to be signed by the student and major professor, and must be submitted in PDF format to the Office of Research and Economic Development at skoerber@uidaho.edu.

This 12-month assistantship (1-3 years) could be used to initiate and complete a research project, to provide an opportunity to fund a portion of an ongoing research project, or to bring to completion an ongoing graduate student research effort.

Applications will be reviewed based on the merit of the proposed research and in accordance with the proposal guidelines and the established rubric, in accordance with the terms of the Stillinger Trust.
