Brenda Murdoch received her bachelors and doctorate from the University of Alberta and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences, affiliate faculty member in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the University of Idaho. Murdoch is also an adjunct faculty member in the Center for Reproductive Biology and Animal Science at Washington State University.

Murdoch’s research focuses on characterizing the relationship between genetic and epigenetic variation with economically important biological traits. With this goal in mind, Murdoch uses modern molecular and genetic technologies to further improve the understanding of how genomic variations affect biological processes of both undesirable (disease) and desirable (economically important) phenotypic traits.
